Urgent: Emergency Call from Mother Nature

There is a famous American Proverb which says, “We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.” This saying is a very good inspiration and motivation for us to do something to preserve our environment and Mother Nature as a whole so that our children will still be able to enjoy the things that we still enjoy now. Don’t wait for the time when our children will only see dolphins, lions, and other animals in the books. And don’t wait for the time when fresh air and fresh water become so precious like oil.

20-Year Ban Put On Mining Claims Near Grand Canyon

The Obama administration just announced a 20-year federal ban “on new mining claims affecting a million acres near the Grand Canyon, an area known to be rich in high-grade uranium ore reserves,” as The Associated Press writes.
And “in doing so,” the wire service adds, “the administration brushed off pressure from congressional Republicans and mining industry figures who wanted a policy change.”

When Property Rights, Environmental Laws Collide

The U.S. Supreme Court hears arguments Monday in a case near and dear to EPA haters.

It would seem to be a David-and-Goliath case that pits a middle-class American couple trying to build their dream home against the Environmental Protection Agency. But the couple, Michael and Chantell Sackett, is backed by a veritable who’s who in American mining, oil, utilities, manufacturing and real estate development, as well as groups opposed to government regulation.

Fracking Byproducts May Be Linked To Ohio Quakes

Melissa Block interviews John Armbruster, a seismologist with Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, part of Columbia University, about why he believes the waste from fracking in Ohio has led to the earthquakes there. He says the injection of waste water from the fracking process created pressure on nearby faults, and he expects the quakes to continue — even after the process is stopped.
